All 406 people evacuated from Wuhan, China who have been accommodated at a quarantine facility in Delhi, have tested negative for coronavirus in the final test, according to a PTI report.
The discharge of all the quarantined people will take place in a phased manner starting Monday. The final samples of the people quarantined at the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) facility were obtained on Friday. Samples had been investigated at least twice earlier and came out negative.
Union health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan said February 13 that the samples of the 654 evacuees at Manesar and ITBP camps had been found to be negative. He said that only three positive cases of coronavirus had been detected so far in the country - all three of them Kerala students who had gone to Wuhan, China. While one of the students has been discharged after testing negative following treatment, two others were stable.
The two quarantine camps were set up in January 2020 to quarantine Indians arriving from China as well as those evacuated by special flights. All the quarantined people underwent monitoring by doctors who assessed them for any signs of the infection and their samples were then tested. An expert team of ITBP and Safdarjung Hospital doctors has been deployed at the camp.
